A Summer's end Dream

So...Today is the first day of September, and it always means a lot to me.
New projects, new season (I love Autumn)...A new year, indeed.

But this time, this year begins with a strange nostalgic feeling...And I know there's a group of wonderful people out there who know exactly what I'm talking about...Because we shared a beautiful experience together: a very intense week at the Fine Art Factory with the most magical person I've ever met: Gabriel Pacheco.

ita: Dunque...Oggi è il primo giorno di Settembre, e questo significa sempre molto per me.
Nuovi progetti, una nuova stagione (adoro l'Autunno)...Un nuovo anno, a tutti gli effetti.

Ma questa volta, quest'anno inizia con una strana e nostalgica sensazione...E so che c'è un gruppo di persone là fuori che sa esattamente di cosa sto parlando...Perchè insieme abbiamo condiviso una bellissima esperienza: una settimana intensissima alla Fine Art Factory con la persona più magica che io abbia mai conosciuto: Gabriel Pacheco.

Yayyyyyy!!!
I've finally finished the work on my new book...So I can officially consider myself on holyday!!

ita: Yeeeeeeeeh!!!

Ho finalmente terminato il mio lavoro sul nuovo libro...Dunque posso ufficialmente considerarmi in vacanza!!

..It feels so good, to be able to take my time, finally...I'm going to fly to the south of Italy in a few days, to attend a wonderful illustration course by Gabriel Pacheco at Fine Art Factory (can't wait, can't wait!).

ita: Mi fa davvero bene la sensazione di potermi finalmente prendere il mio tempo...Volerò a Martina Franca fra qualche giorno per frequentare un favoloso corso di illustrazione con Gabriel pacheco alla Fine Art Factory (non vedo l'ora!).

I'll be back here at the beginning of September...I have so many new project ready to start...And I also promised to host a giveaway to celebrate the 2000+ fans on my facebook page!

So be ready, because I will prepare it for you as soon as I come back, together with a buch of other things...I'm already so excited!

Working on a book is sooooooo long and tiring, sometimes you almost can't see the end of it...So now I love the idea of some new fresh projects to work on :)

A lot of work and a lot of progress, indeed...That's why it seems like I can never get the chance to come here and write a post as it should be...
But that's really unfair, I think...So you know what?
Let's change the policies in here: Less words (it takes me forever every time to write those long posts in two languages) and a lot more images!!!

We're on an illustration blog, after all, so let's enjoy the visual part of the work (the one that I prefer)!

Below are some very special sneak peaks from the book I'm currently illustrating...I can't reveal much at this stage...But let's just say that it's a book about...

Ita: "Lavori in corso"

Un sacco di lavoro ed un sacco di corsa, in effetti...Ecco perchè sembra sempre che io non riesca a trovare un minuto per scrivere un post come si deve qui sul blog...
Ma non è per niente giusto, credo...perciò sapete una cosa?
Cambiamo le carte in gioco, qui: meno parole (mi occupa sempre troppo tempo scrivere quei lunghi post in due lingue) e molte più immagini!!!

Siamo su un blog di illustrazione, dopo tutto, perciò godiamoci il lato visivo del lavoro (quello che preferisco)!

Ecco qui alcune piccole anteprime del libro che sto illustrando in questo periodo...Non posso ancora rivelare molto...Ma diciamo semplicemente che si tratta di un libro su...

I bet you're curious like a cat now! I promise I'll reveal more details as the book release approaches (it will be in November 2011, in France).

And now let me spend a couple of words about the illustrating techinique I'm using for this book: graphite pencils digitally coloured with photoshop!
Oh, I'm so falling in love with this techinique!!

And a very nice thing is that it' very easy and quick to take W.I.P snapshots...Here's an example:

Ita: Scommetto che adesso sarete curiosi come delle scimmiette! Prometto di rivelare altri dettagli mano mano che la data di uscita del libro si avvicina (sarà a Novembre 2011, in Francia).

Ed ora un paio di parole riguardo alla tecnica di illustrazione che sto utilizzando per questo libro: mezzatinta a matita colorata digitalmente con photoshop!
Mi sto davvero innamorando di questa tecnica!!

E un aspetto molto divertente è che è davverto facile e veloce fotografare passo-passo la progressione del lavoro...Eccone un esempio:

"7 gatti" presentazione libro e laboratorio per bimbi!

Eccomi qui per un piccolo aggiornamento per segnalarvi tre appuntamenti felini da non perdere :)
Spero che perdonerete questo mio post veloce-veloce...Grandi news bollono in pentola, tra cui un nuovo libro appena iniziato...Ebbene si! ;)
Ma nel frattempo...

In questo mese di Maggio finalmente tutti i gatti fanno capolino e si mettono a pancia all'aria a prendere un pò di questo tanto agognato sole...
Quindi, se siete amanti delle fusa e dei pancini pelosi, vi consiglio di non predervi i prossimi tre appuntamenti per la presentazione del libro "7 gatti", con me e i nostri 7 amici felini!!

Laboratorio per bambini dai 3 ai 5 anni

"Vi sembra facile lavorare come custode a una mostra felina?

E se un gatto si mette a ululare, uno passeggia, uno si pulisce il musetto, due litigano, uno guarda il soffitto e uno vi morsica la gamba... chi riuscirà a indovinare come si chiamano questi SETTE GATTI?"

L'attività consiste in un breve racconto animato della storia "7 gatti" (Zampanera Editore), seguito da un piccolo laboratorio in cui i bimbi dovranno posizionare ognuno dei 7 mici (sagome in cartone) nella gabbia giusta, indovinandone il nome e il colore.
Successivamente potranno colorare dei gatti tutti nuovi del colore che preferiscono, attribuirgli nomi nuovi e posizionarli nella casetta più adatta a loro, aumentando la confusione del povero gestore della mostra felina!

New techniques...New season...New shop!!!

Hallo again everybody,

Great news around here...Spring has finally sprung!

I seriously couldn't wait for it to arrive...And now it makes me feel brand new, longing for changes...And the first one is coming up in just a couple of days...I'm opening a brand new shop: La boîte à souhaits

The name "la boîte à souhaits", means "the box of wishes"...I tried different names, before choosing the perfect one...I wanted it to sound like some sort of a special small space , a special "something" that you could open up to find all kind of surprises and marvels...So I thougt about "the box of secrets", "The box of dreams", and many more...Until I found out that la boîte à souhaits was also the name of a white magic enchantment: and all my doubts immediately flew away!

I will inaugurate it on Monday, April 18 presenting for the occasion my new Spring Summer 2011 jewelry collection!!Yayyyyy!!!

I know many of you were waiting for this new collection, you asked me many times about it...It took me a while to make it come out you beacause I felt the need to take my time to take some pictures for the catalogue (coming next, with pictures by my little sister!) and settle down everything for this new shop...But now it's ready, and it's here!

About my new shop...I decided to open it because I felt the need for a new, more personal, space...A bit different from etsy.
I still feel like an etsian, I've learned a lot during my years over there, and I love the etsy team and atmosphere...But I feel like something is changing...Maybe it's just me, and maybe I will happyly come back...But for the moment my aim is to move all my items to the new shop, little by little...And to build a new, comfortable home for them at http://shop.alessandrafusi.com :)
So, well, I hope you will like the new shop and help me to make it grow stronger :)

And now, let's come to the "new techniques"...Recently I said I wanted to experiment digital painting...I only needed the perfect occasion to try it out, and I finally found it when I received a message from Deckard Croix, a very talented american musician, asking me to create the cover illustration for his upcoming album "Snapdragon".

So, he sent me some very inspiring excerpts from the album tracks, and I came up with this idea of a girl sitting on a giant Snapdragon flower in the middle of a swamp or some sort of nowhere land:

Well...So now it was time to experiment with colours...And it wasn't the easiest thing in the world, at least at the beginning, because, like every new techinique, digital painting can be tricky...

But in the end, I came up with something quite satisfying for me, and Deckard loved it as well:

So, if you want to know my opinion about it: digital painting is just AWESOME!!!
It's not easy, at all, but incredibly funny and open to an infinite universe of possibilities...Seriously, nothing will ever compare the pleasure of colouring with actual brushes, playing all around the table leaving colorful stains everywhere...But the magic of a pen tablet is something completely different and it is really worth experimenting it more and more :)

(And by the way...If you had any doubt about it, I loved it so much that I immediately used my Wacom tablet also to colour the banner of my new shop, the one you saw in the image above, at the beginning of this post).

Grandi notizie da queste parti...La primavera è finalmente arrivata!

Io davvero non vedevo l'ora...E adesso finalmente ho una gran voglia di novità e di cambiamenti...Ed il primo di questi arriverà giusto giusto in un paio di giorni...Sto per aprire un nuovissimo shop: La boîte à souhaits

Il nome "la boîte à souhaits", significa "la scatole dei desideri"...Ho provato vari nomi, prima di trovare quello perfetto...Volevo che suonasse come uno spazio speciale, un "qualcosa" di speciale che poteva essere aperto per trovarvi all'interno ogni tipo di sorpresa e meraviglia...Così ho pensato a "la scatola dei segreti", "la scatola dei sogni", e molti altri...Fino al momento in cui ho scoperto che boîte à souhaits era anche il nome di un'incantesimo di magia bianca: e tutti i miei dubbi sono immadiatamente volati via!

Lo inaugurerò Lunedì 18 Aprile presentando per l'occasione la mia nuova Spring Summer 2011 jewelry collection!! Yeeeeeh!!!

So che molti di voi stavano aspettando questa nuova collezione, mi avete chiesto spesso news. a riguardo..Ho avuto bisogno di più tempo del previsto per prepararla perchè sentivo il bisogno di farlo con calma e di prendermi il tempo di scattare delle foto per il catalogo (in arrivo presto, con foto scattate da mia sorella!) e preparare bene tutto per il nuovo shop...Ma ora è finalmente pronta ed è arrivata!

Riguardo al mio nuovo shop...Ho deciso di aprirlo perchè sentivo il bisogno di uno spazio nuovo, più personale...Un pò diverso da etsy.
Io mi sento ancora una etsian, ho imparato molto durante i miei anni lì, ed io amo ancora il team e l'atmosfera di etsy...Ma ho la sensazione che stia cambiando qualcosa...Forse sono solo io, e forse tornerò felicemente indietro...ma per il momento il mio obiettivo è quello di spostare tutti i prodotti nel nuovo shop, un pò alla volta...E di costruire una nuova ed accogliente casetta per loro su http://shop.alessandrafusi.com :)
Così, bhè spero che il nuovo negozio vi piaccia e che mi aiuterete a farlo crescere :)

Ed ora, veniamo alle "nuove tecniche"...Recentemente ho detto di aver voglia di sperimentare la pittura digitale...Avevo solamente bisogno dell'occasione perfetta per provarla e l'ho finalmente trovata quando ho ricevuto un messaggio da Deckard Croix, un musicista americano di talento, che mi chiedeva di creare un'illustraziione per la copertina del suo prossimo album, "Snapdragon".

Così, mi ha inviato degli estratti delle tracce dell'abum, molto evocative, e l'idea che mi si è disegnata in testa è stata quella di una bimba seduta su un fiore gigante di bocca di leone (Snapdragon, appunto) nel mezzo di una palude o una sorta di landa desolata:

Così...Era arrivato il momento di sperimentare con i colori...E non è stata la cosa più semplice al mondo, almeno all'inizio, perchè, come ogni nuova tecnica, la pittura digitali ha le sue difficoltà da saper gestire...

Ma alla fine sono riuscita ad ottenere qualcosa di piuttosto soddisfacente per me, ad anche Deckard ha apprezzato il risultato:

Dunque, se volete conoscere la mia opinione a riguardo, la pittura digitale è FAVOLOSA!!!
Non è semplice, assolutamente, ma incredibilmente divertente ed aperta ad un universo intero di possibilità infinite...Sul serio, niente può essere paragonato al piacere di utilizzare dei veri pennelli e impiastricciare tutta la tavola di macchie colorate...Ma la magia della penna grafica è qualcosa di completamente differente che vale la pena di sperimentare ancora di più :)

(E fra l'altro...nel caso in cui aveste ancora dei dubbi, ho amato talmente tanto la mia tavoletta Wacom da averla utilizzata immediatamente anche per colorare il banner del mio nuovo shop, quello che avete visto nell'immagine all'inizio di questo post).

Dunque, è tutto per ora gente...Ci vediamo lunedì nel mio nuovo shop!!

Oh my...I can't stand these rainy days anymore!
It's time for sunny days, for the smell of the jasmines, even for my allergy (I'm going to regret this, I know)...But give me some Spring!! :)

I'm spending these orrible days for our world, when some rain is really the smallest of troubles, in front of my pc, experimenting with digital painting...Longing for sunny days, and better days...

And I'm dreaming of solstice celebrations and dances around the fire in the woods at night...I'd love it so....

Uff...Non ne posso più di questi giorni piovosi!
Questo è il tempo delle belle giornate, del prifumo dei gelsomini, persino della mia allergia (mi pentirò di aver scritto questo, lo so bene)...Ma datemi un pò di Primavera!! :)

Sto trascorrendo questi giorni così orribili per il nostro mondo, giorni in cui un pò di pioggia è davvero il più insignificante dei problemi, di fronte al mio pc, sperimentando la pittura digitale...Con tanta voglia di giornate di sole, e di giorni più belli...

Sognando di feste del solstizio e danze attorno al fuoco nel bosco notturno...Mi piacerebbe così tanto....

Of craft fairs and newly discovered marvels

Yayyyy, you got it right...The craft fair season is finally back and rolling again!!!
Oh, I've been waiting for the return of the Vintage Market for so long and now I can't wait to attend it! :)

Infinitales shop will be there, of course, presenting for the first time ever the new Spring-Summer 2011 jewelry collection!

I've been working hard on the new jewels in these past days...Creating new necklaces, cameos, brooches, bracelets and pocket watches too...I had so much fun!
I can't wait to take advantage of these sunny days to take some good pictures, in order to post them for sale on the shop very soon.

But for now, let's meet in Rome next sunday at the Vintage market:

And what about the newly discovered marvels?
Well, yesterday I've finally watched what could probably become my all time favourite movie, a true epiphany, by one of the most surrealistic and imaginative directors I've ever known, presented by two of my favourite directors ever (David Fincher and Spike Jonze):

What could I say about this movie...I mean, except the fact that it never reached the italian theaters -nor the dvd rental shops...They didn't even translate it in Italian, as far as I know- (and I'm not much into watching streming movies...That's why it took me so long to decide to watch it, but now that I finally did I couldn't help but immediately purchasing the DVD...I want to die and wet my eyes in tears in front of those beautifully saturated colors!!)...

I guess the only thing that it's worth to say is watch it.
Make yourself a beautiful present and watch this movie, and watch it in the original language, with the original actors' voices and their beautiful accents. Watch it again and again. Then spread the word and watch it with your friends, and family, and make it be contagious.

I do always feel like these kind of absolute beauty will save the world, seriously.
If the word "Art" still has some meaning at this day, I feel that's what it's all about.

Ho atteso il ritorno del Vintage Market per così tanto tempo che adesso non vedo l'ora di parteciparvi! :)

E per quanto riguarda le meraviglie appena scoperte?
Bhè, ieri ho finalmente visto quello che potrebbe con tutta probabilità diventare uno dei miei films preferiti di sempre, una vera epifania, realizzato da uno dei registi più surrealisti ed immaginifici che io abbia mai conosciuto, presentato da due dei miei registi preferiti in assoluto (David Fincher e Spike Jonze):

Cosa potrei dire riguardo a questo film...Voglio dire, a parte il fatto che non ha mai raggiunto il grande schermo qui in italia -nè tantomeno i punti di noleggio dvd...Credo che non sia stao nemmeno tradotto, per quel che ne ne so- (ed io non amo molto guardare i film in streaming, è per questa ragione che ci ho messo tanto per decidermi a vederlo, ma ora che l'ho finalmente visto non ho potuto evitare di acquistare immediatamente il DVD...Voglio morire bagnando i miei occhi di lacrime di fronte a quei meravigliosi colori iper saturi!!)...

Penso che l'unica cosa che valga la pena di dire sia guardatelo.
Fate a voi stessi un magnifico regalo e guardate questo film, e fatelo in lingua originale, con le voci degli attori originali ed i loro meravigliosi accenti differenti. Guardatelo ancora e ancora. Poi passate parola e guardatelo di nuovo con i vostri amici e la vostra famiglia, fate in modo che sia contagioso.

Io ho sempre la sensazione che questo tipo di bellezza possa salvare il mondo, sul serio.
Se la parola "Arte" ha ancora una qualche parvenza di significato oggi, credo che sia esattamente questo.

2011, a year of changes

And so...Here I am once again...Once more apologizing for my long absence....

Oh, well, I'll never learn will I? :)

In the past month I've been working like mad on the hugest commission I've ever been working on: a wall panel for a newborn girl's bedroom with a woodland scene full of cute animals♥

It's been very fun (and it still is, to be onest, since the work is not yet totally finished...It's hard to reach the end of such a long work) but also very time and energy consuming!

I've been publishing some low-quality W.I.P. shots on my facebook page all the way long, so I believe that some of you may already know what I'm talking about, but here's a small preview anyway:

The whole size of the panel is 2,5m x 1m (98.4 x 39.4 in)...Pretty much of an epic undertaking!!

Oh, well...I know I can reach the end of it! :p

So...With this said, if I'm titling this post "2011, a year of changes", it is for different reasons and the first one is right before you eyes: a whole new look for the blog graphic!!

What do you think?

It took a little while for me to get used to the new colours and spaces, but now let me say that I love it so!♥

There's a lot of space now and the colours are pretty similar to those of my website and, last but not least, a bit of fresh air every now and then is always welcome, isn't it?

Yehyehyeah! And I must thank the new blogger template designer for this chance to change the rules without going mad with html codes (I've learned my own way to deal with them...But I must admit that I'm always happy to avoid that struggle if I can)!

More news, more news...

Infinitales Postcards are finally in my shop!!

I've been thinking about printing some high quality postcards for a long while, and now that I did I'm truly happy with the great job that the print company did...And they have those lovely rounded corners (that I choosed also for my new business cards) that I adore, so yummy!

And now, the greatest change of them all, at least for a "classical" illustrator like me: I decided to try to find my way through the magical world of digital illustration!!

Let the bell ring!!! That's such a great new for me :)

Of course I will never abandon the classical techinque, I love brushes and painting too much, but I also love to try new paths and experiments all the time...So I decided that digital painting will be my new frontier...Wish me good luck! :D

Well, that's all for now ...I have some new projects on the run, including a new jewelry collection of unique pieces and some book projects ready to jump out of my drawer right into the hands of an editor...But it's still too soon to talk about them for now...Be on the look for more ;)

Il mese passato ho lavorato come una matta sul più gigantesco lavoro che mi sia mai stato commissionato finora: un pannello murale per la parete della cameretta di una bimba raffigurante una scena in un bosco pieno di animaletti ♥

E' stato molto divertente (e lo è ancora, ad essere onesti, dato che non è ancora del tutto finito...E' difficile veder la fine di un lavoro così lungo) ma anche un grande investimento di tempo ed energie!

Ho già pubblicato, man mano che il lavoro procedeva, delle piccole foto di work in progress sulla mia pagina facebook perciò qualcuno di voi potrebbe già sapere di cosa si tratta, ma ad ogni modo ecco qui delle piccole anteprime:

...Detto questo, se il titolo di questo post è "2011, un anno di cambiamenti", è per diverse ragioni e la prima è proprio qui davanti ai vostri occhi: una veste tutta nuova per la grafica del blog!!

Che ne dite?

Per quel che riguarda me, ci è voluto un pò per abituarmi ai nuovi colori e spazi, ma ora posso dire che mi piace davvero!♥

C'è molto spazio ora e i colori sono piuttosto simili a quelli del mio sito web e poi un pò d'aria fresca fa sempre bene, no?

Sisisi! E devo ringraziare il nuovo designer di blogger per uesta possibilità di cambiare le carte in tavola senza impazzire con l'html (Ho trovato il mio modo di gestirlo...Ma devo ammettere di esser sempre contenta di evitare certe lotte intestine quando posso)!

Le Cartoline Infinitales sono finalmente nello shop!!

Era un bel pò di tempo che l'idea di stampare delle nuove cartoline di alta qualità mi ronzava per la testa, ed ora che l'ho fatto sono soddisfattissima dell'ottimo lavoro della tipografia...Ed hanno quegli angoli arrotondati (che ho scelto anche per i miei nuovi bigliettini da visita) che io adoro, yummy!

Ed ora, il più grande cambiamento di tutti, almeno per un'illustratrice "classica" come me: ho deciso di provare a trovare la mia strada attraverso il magico mondo dell'illustrazione digitale!!

Squillino le trombe!!! E' una novità entusiasmante per me :)

Ovviamente non abbandonerò ma la tecnica classica, adoro troppo i pennelli e la pittura, ma amo anche provare nuovi sentieri e sperimentare tutto il tempo...Così ho deciso di fare della pittura digitale la mia nuova frontiera...Auguratemi buona fortuna! :D

Bene, è tutto per ora ...Ho dei nuovi progetti in corso, compresa una nuova collezione di gioielli in pezzi unici ed alcuni progetti libro pronti a saltar fuori dal mio cassetto dritti-dritti fra le mani di un editore...Ma è ancora troppo presto per parlarne per ora...Restatemi vicini per saperne di più ;)

Yayyy!! Christmas' Eve is just a couple of days away and I love it so!!!
So I just wanted to send to you all my very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

But, you know, when I disappear for a while it usually means good stuff!

I have so many news boiling in my cauldron...But most of them are still too young to explore the world on their own...Let's let them grow and settle up for a while, before shouting them out loud

You know, sometimes a theme can be very inspiring...But sometimes it may recall some ideas that you just can't deal with...And this time the idea of "Ladies Night Out" in New York was summoning to my mind images about "Sex & City", Martini with ice and stuff like that...Cool, and funny too...But not really my cup of tea

So I decided to switch up completely and start something brand new...And you know?
I was reading "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" (I know, I know, ahahah! But it was an awesome way to re-read about my beloved story of Elizabeth & Mr.Darcy) by the time I made the sketch, and I was seriously longing for a ball, like every Bennet girl does, and so...

And now...I have another big event to tell you about...After a long stop, I'm participating to a new craft fair...And this time it is promising to be really cool!!!

I'll be at the Micca Club with my stand during the final night of the 6th Rome Burlesque festival!!

A volte un tema può essere di grande aiuto ed ispirazione...Ma altre volte può suggerire delle idee con cui non ci si trova del tutto a proprio agio...E questa volta l'idea di "Serata fra donne" a New York mi faceva venire in mente delle immagini stile "Sex&The City" e Martini con ghiaccio...Non male...Ma non esattamente nelle mie corde

Così ho deciso di cambiare tutto completamente ed iniziare qualcosa di nuovo...E sapete cosa?
Stavo leggendo "Orgoglio e Preguidizio e Zombie" (lo so, lo so, ahahah! Ma è stato un espediente fantastico per rileggere la storia dei miei beneamati Elizabeth & Mr.Darcy) nel momento in cui ho schizzato l'immagine e desideravo tanto un bel ballo da sala, come ogni ragazza Bennet che si rispetti, e così...

Of Bears, Whales, and challenges...

Hallo everyone!!
I'm happy to be back here, and to be able to say that the first week out for my new jewelry collection has been totally GREAT!

You seriously gave it a warm welcome, some pieces sold immediately after they've been posted...What can I say but Thank you with all my heart? ♥

There are still some pieces for sale, waiting for the lucky ones who will own them...And for me to pack them up and bring them to the post office

...In the meanwhile I took some time to paint some new pieces to build up a better portfolio for my new agency, here they are:

Our common aim is to soften a bit my textures and characters, in order to make them more suitable for the english children book market...I want to develop my personal style in both directions: for the art world and for the editorial one.
It's going to be tough, but I like challenges!

My new illustration course at Arte Mediterranea is about to begin on October 27!!

Last year all my students realized a beautiful collective illustrated children book about the story of "The three Billy Goats Gruff" (you can have a virtual look at it here)...And this year we will go on and try to realized a whole new book project for each student!!

A new challenge, once more...Would you join us?

Sono felice di essere di nuovo qui, e di poter dire che la prima settimana di vendita della mia nuova collezione di gioielli è stata GRANDIOSA!

Avete riservato loro davvero un caldo benvenuto, alcuni pezzi sono volati via non appena hanno fatto capolino nello shop...Cosa potrei dire a parte grazie grazie grazie di cuore? ♥

Restano ancora dei pezzi in vendita, in attesa dei fortunati che se li aggiudicheranno...Ed in attesa di essere impacchettati ed accompagnati da me all'ufficio postale

...Nel frattempo ho approfittato di un pò di tempo per dipingere dei nuovi lavori per organizzare un portfolio migliore per la mia nuova agenzia, eccoli qui:

Il nostro intento comune è quello di attenuare un pò le mie textures ed i miei personaggi, per renderli più adatti al mercato inglese dei libri per ragazzi...Vorrei sviluppare il mio stile personale in entrambe le direzioni: per il mondo delle mostre e per quello editoriale.

Non sarà facile, ma le sfide mi piacciono!

Il mio nuovo corso di illustrazione all'Arte Mediterranea sta per iniziare il 27 Ottobre!!

Lo scorso anno i miei studenti hanno realizzato un bellissimo albo illustrato collettivo sulla storia dei "Tre Capretti Furbetti" (potete dargli una sbirciata virtuale qui)...E quest'anno andremo avanti e proveremo a realizzare un progetto libro per ogni studente!!

Una nuova sfida...Volete essere dei nostri?

New Jewelry update!!

And here we are finally!!!
My new jewelry line is ready to be posted on my etsy shop...And you?
Are you ready to give it a warm welcome?

I finally made up my mind and decided to begin to work differently: as my work on my jewelry grew, my pieces were getting more particular..I discovered I had more fun in creating unique pieces, each piece very different from the others...
And I discovered that people also appreciated it a lot.

So, it was time to change the rules: no more commissioned pieces "made to order", but periodical jewelry updates, with lots of unique pieces and one of a kind stuff!!

...I sincerely hope this new method will be my cup of tea, because I truly love the idea of experimenting freely with my creations in order to realize new pieces every time!!

And I hope you will notice the different approach in the quality of my new pieces...

And, last but not least...I hope you will enjoy!!!

Ed eccoci finalmente!!!
La mia nuovissima linea di gioielli è pronta per essere messa in vendita nel mio etsy shop...E voi?
Siete pronti a darle un caldo benvenuto?

Finalmente ho preso la decisione di iniziare a lavorare in modo differente: man mano che il lavoro sui miei gioielli andava avanti, io notavo che i miei pezzi tendevano ad essere sempre più "complicati" e particolari...Ed io scoprivo quanto fosse divertente lavorare ad articoli sempre nuovi e diversi...
E scoprivo che anche le persone li apprezzavano di più.

Per questa ragione, è giunto il momento di cambiare le regole: niente più pezzi su commissione realizzati al momento dell'ordine, ma aggiornamenti periodici, con un mucchio di nuovi gioielli e pezzi unici!!

...Spero sinceramente che questo nuovo metodo di procedere faccia davvero per me, perchè adoro l'idea di sperimentare liberamente con le mie creazioni artigianali per poter creare pezzi sempre nuovi!

E spero che l'approccio differente si noti nella qualità dei miei nuovi pezzi...

E, non ultimo, spero che vi piacciano!!!

Hallo everyone!!

So...I'm back from an extremely wonderful experience...Ireland's landscapes, people and atmosphere are now forever tattooed deep inside my heart...I miss Galway and all the wonderful people we met there so much...I already can't wait to be back!!

I want show you a small collection of some pictures I took there...And if you want to breath a little bit of that atmosphere I warmly suggest you to listen to this piece...Or this one also...awwww, I feel so nostalgic!

Ok, so now I'd better come back with my feet here in Italy, at least for now, because I have so many wonderful news to tell you!!!

First of all: I got me an agent!!
Hell yeah boys and girls, now I'm officially represented by the Bright Agency...It feels good to have someone to help you trough this illustrated jungle...So now it's time to work on new pieces for my portfolio, following wise and experienced suggestions, looking forward to improve my style...Fingers crossed!!

My new book "Le grand voyage de Tessie" is finally available through bookstores in France and on my editor's website here!!!
But I want to make a special blogpost about this book with lots of pictures as soon as I will receive my copies...I'm so curious to see them as well!!

E così...Sono di ritorno da un'esperienza assolutamente meravigliosa...I paesaggi, le persone e ed il cielo d'Irlanda aora sono per sempre tatuati nel mio cuore...Galway e le persone che vi ho incontrato mi mancano così tanto...Non vedo già l'ora di tornare!!

Voglio mostrarvi una piccola raccolta di foto che ho scattato lì...E se volete respirare un pò della giusta atmosfera, vi consiglio di ascoltare questo pezzo...O anche questo ...awwww, che malinconia!

Ok, ora è meglio che io torni con i piedi a terra qui in Italia, almeno per ora, perchè ho così tante super novità da raccontarvi!!!

Prima di tutto: ora ho un agentet!!
Ebbene si signori e signore, ora sono ufficialmente rappresentata dalla Bright Agency ...E' bello avere qualcuno che ti guidi per mano attraverso questa giungla illustrata...Quindi ora è il momento di lavorare a dei nuovi pezzi per il mio portfolio, seguendo i saggi consigli di chi ha più esperienza, sperando di migliorare sempre di più...Dita incrociate!!

So it seems like my latest post was not supposed to be the last before my holyday break...I have another little thing to show you before I leave for Ireland

A brand new experiment with gouache colours that I realized for an illustration contest about sports:

I know we're in August, so this may look a bit out of season...But I'm longing for snow, to be sincere...Aren't you?

By the way, seems like I still have a lot to learn about this techinique, but I'm having fun going on step by step!

And this time I also realized a relatively detailed black&white sketch...That is definitely not tipically me, since I usually draw very quickly on rough pieces of paper...But this time (and I sincerely do not know why) I prepared a sketch that could be worth posting here on the blog, and so...Have a look:

This is a very special place for all of us illustrators, comic artists and art lovers!
The blog is born right after after the success of the original facebook page , in order to keep all those precious inputs, inspirations and ideas in a safe place, where everybody can always find them ♥
The genius behind it all is called Morena Forza, a great fellow artist and a new friend!

And so facebook won its battle against me, in the end...Or instead it is art that won its battle against facebook?
I don't know, but in the end the thruth is that it became one of my favourite places to find new artists and daily inspirations!!

E così si direbbe che il mio post della scorsa volta non era destinato ad esser l'ultimo prima del mio stop per le vacanze..Ho un'altra piccola cosa da mostrarvi prima di partire per l'Irlanda

Un nuovo esperimento con le tempere, realizzato per un concorso d'illustrazione sullo sport:

So che siamo in Agosto, dunque potrebbe apparire leggermente fuori stagione...ma io ho una gran voglia di neve...Voi no?
Ad ogni modo, sembra che io abbia ancora molto da imparare riguardo a questa tecnica, ma mi sto divertendo ad andare avanti passo-passo!

E questa volta ho persino realizzato uno schizzo in bianco e nero relativamente dettagliato...Non è assolutamente tipico di me, dato che io generalmente realizzo schizzi molto veloci su dei pezzacci di carta...Ma questa volta (e onestamente non ne conosco il motivo) ho preparato uno schizzo che potrebbe valer la pena di mostrare qui sul blog, e così...Date un'occhiata:

Hallo everyone!!
This is probably going to be my latest post before my big holiday break in September: I'm going to spend three weeks with my boyfriend in Galway, Ireland!! ♥

I'm so excited, I can't believe I'll finally see the landscapes of my dreams...This is surely going to be deeply inspiring...Moreover, I'll have the chance to improve my english
(we'll stay in a host family).

I know that September is always the month I'm waiting for to give birth to all my new projects (and I do have a lot, indeed!) but now that my work on my latest book is finally over, I truly feel like I need a break...Even if this will probably mean that some of my new school and stationery products could make their first appearance in my etsy shop in October...Won't you be waiting a little longer?

Not even if I show you the reason of this waiting?

Here it is!

A very special preview for your eyes only: the cover of my book about cats "7 gatti", coming up next year for Zampanera editore, Italy...yayyy!!!

The work on this book has been very fun, and yet a little tricky, because it has been my very first non-scientific illustration experience using designer's gouache: I decided to try this technique mostly because some of my friends and favourite artists use it and...I
hated it! And then I deeply loved it, and then again I hated it, and now....I'm afraid gouache could seriously steal my heart!
I don't think I will ever abandon my usual mixed technique, but the possibilities that gouaches offer are nearly infinite...And now I want to keep on learning and experimenting even more! :)

The feeling that accompanies the end of a long work, like an illustrated album, is always pleasant: someting between pride and -temporary- relax...So I thought it was the case to celebrate it giving myself some gorgeous presents! (Sounds realistic...To be true I only wanted more and more artbooks, as usual! Bwahahaha!!).
By the way, below are my latest purchases, higly reccommended to you all!

This is a VERY special book: a very elegant edition (oh boy, I adore deluxe editions!) holding a true tresure of sketches and drawings by this wonderful artist...I must admit I didn't know her before...But I admit with pleasure that I do LOVE her now!
I adore her mix of cartoon-style characters with their soft bodies and moves with that touch of Art Nouveau...And the way she draws animals!

What can I say?
We all know Rebecca Dautremer...She's so incredibly and wonderfully influent in the world of illustration in this moment...And she deeply deserves it!
I admire this woman with all my heart, and I admire her with that little bit of gealousy an illustrator knows so well: the gealousy you feel towards someone who has reached the goals you wish to reach, the gealousy you feel towards your hero

If you look closely between the pages of this book you'll also discover her sense of humor (something absolutely important for an illustrator, I believe), her doubts and lots and lots of inspiration!!

The feeling it leaves is something like: "Oh God! I still have SO much to learn!!!....Hurray!!"
And you can't help but love it...Being or not an illustrator! :)

Pop Surrealism: What a Wonderfool World

And now, this book is truly something...Not only for the book itself (a beautiful edition indeed) but for what it represents: this is the catalogue of the very first HUGE group show of Pop Surrealism here in Italy!!

I've seen the exhibition in Spoleto last week and I was excited like a child in a candy shop! Looking closely to the tiniest details in those mesterpieces...Joe Sorren, Scott Musgrove, Travis Louie...Even Mark Ryden! Just to name a few...If you ever get the chance to travel down there to Spoleto do not miss this exhibition for nothing on earth...It is even worth organizing a trip expecially to see the show and the delicious city, wich is seriously one to the places I'd love to be living in ♥

And now the point is....Where the heck do I place these new books???
The shelves in my room are litterary about to collapse and crash on my head while I'm asleep...Aaaargh!

This is just a part of my collection of artbooks and other oddities...My bed lies right under those heavy shelves...Uops!
Oh well, at least they always inspire my sweet dreams...

Questo sarà probabilmente il mio ultimo post prima del mio break vacanziero a Settembre: trascorrerò tre settimane con il mio ragazzo a Galway, in Irlanda!! ♥

Sono emozionatissima, non posso credere che finalmente vedrò i paesaggi ed i cieli dei miei sogni...Sarà sicuramente fonte d'inspirazione. In più avrò anche occasione di migliorare il mio inglese (staremo in casa-famiglia).

So bene che Settemre è sempre il mese tanto atteso per dare il via a tutti i miei nuovi progetti (e ne ho molti, in effetti!) ma ora che il mio lavoro per il mio ultimo libro è finalmente terminato, sento davvero il bisogno di prendermi una pausa...Anche se questo probabilmente significherà che i miei nuovi prodotti di cartoleria e per la scuola faranno la loro prima apparizione nel mio etsy shop solamente ad Ottobre, ma....Non avete voglia di aspettarli un pochino di più?
Nemmeno se vi mostro la ragione dell'attesa?

Un'anteprima molto speciale, la copertina del mio libro "7 gatti", in uscita il prossimo anno per Zampanera editore...yeeeeh!!!

Lavorare a questo libro è stato molto divertente, anche se non è stata proprio una passeggiata, poichè è stata la mia primissima esperienza di illustrazione fiction con i colori a tempera: ho deciso di sperimentare questa tecnica soprattutto perchè alcuni tra i miei amici ed illustratori preferiti la usano e...L'ho odiata!
E poi l'ho amata alla follia e poi l'ho odiata di nuovo, e ora....Ho paura che le tempere potrebbero definitivamente conquistarmi!
Non credo che abbandonerò mai la mia abituale tecnica mista, ma le possibilità che le tempere offrono sono pressochè infinite...Ed ora ho una gran voglia di continuare ad imparare e sperimentare! :)

Il sentimento che accompagna la fine di un lavoro lungo, come un albo illustrato, è sempre piacevole: qualcosa a metà tra orgoglio e -temporaneo- relax ...Dunque ho pensato bene che sarebbe stata un'ottima occasione per fare a me stessa dei regali! (Suona realistico...Ad essere sincera avevo solo volgia di nuovi artbooks! Bwahahaha!!).

Questo è un libro DAVVERO speciale: un edizione elegantissima (io adoro le edizioni deluxe!) che cela al suo interno un vero tesoro di schizzi e disegni di questa artista meravigliosa...Devo ammettere che non la conoscevo prima...Ma ammetto con piacere di AMARLA adesso!
Adoro il suo mix di personaggi cartoon-style con le loro movenze ed i loro corpi dalle line morbide con quel tocco di Art Nouveau...Ed il modo in cui disegna gli animali!

Cosa posso dire?
Tutti noi conosciamo Rebecca Dautremer...E' così incredibilmente e meravigliosamente influente nel mondo dell'illustrazione in questo momento...E lo merita pienamente!
Ammiro questa donna con tutto il mio cuore, e la ammiro con quella punta di gelosia che un illustratore conosce molto bene: quella particolare gelosia che si prova verso qualcuno che ha raggiunto tutti gli obiettivi che ti sei prefisso per te stesso, quel tipo di gelosia che si prova nei confronti del tuo eroe

Se osservate da vicino tra le pagine di questo libro, scoprirete anche il suo senso dell'umorismo (una cosa fondamentale per un illustratore, secondo me), i suoi dubbi, e un mucchio di spunti e di ispirazione!!

Il sentimento che lascia è qualcosa come: "Oh mamma! Ho ancora COSI' tanto da imparare!!!....Urràààààà!!"
E non potrete fare a meno di amarlo...Che siate illustratori oppure no! :)

Pop Surrealism: What a Wonderfool World

Ed ora, questo libro è davvero qualcosa...Non solo per il libro in sè (una bellissima edizione, in effetti) ma per quello che rappresenta: questo è il catalogo della primissima GRANDE mostra collettiva Pop Surrealista qui in Italia!!

Sono stata alla mostra a Spoleto la scorsa settimana ed ero emozionata come una bimba in un negozio di caramelle! Osservando da vicino i più piccoli particolari di questi capolavori...Joe Sorren, Scott Musgrove, Travis Louie...Persino Mark Ryden! Per nominarne giusto un pò...Se per caso doveste avere la possibilità di fare un giro a Spoleto non perdetevi questa mostra per niente al mondo...Vale la pena anche di organizzare un viaggio solamente per vedere la mostra e la città, deliziosa, che è seriamente uno dei posti dove mi piacerebbe vivere ♥

That could defintely be the theme of my latest piece for the collective exhibition about japanese street fashion: Sweet Streets

The theme is just so GREAT, the artists involved absolutely AWESOME (well, this doesn't really help because sometimes you can feel the pressure..AAArgh!) and I could't help but representing my all-time-favourite fashion style: Gothic Lolita♥

I still didn't get the chance to take a good picture of my piece for the show...It's a 50 x 70 cm canvas and it's incredibly hard for me to take a good picture of it, I think I'll wait for my sister (who is a photographer) to come back from her romantic holydays in Paris...

Non ho ancora avuto occasione di fare una bella foto del mio pezzo per la mostra...E' una tela 50 x 70 ed è difficilissimo per me fargli una foto decente, penso proprio che aspetterò il ritorno della mia sorellina (che fa la fotografa) dalla sua vacanza romantica a Parigi...

Ma nel frattempo, siete tutti invitati a partecipare al vernissage e vedere dal vivo tutti i pezzi dei fantastici artisti che esporranno con me!!!

Sin dall'Ottocento intorno ai tarocchi si è sviluppato un notevole interesse. Nel corso del tempo numerosi artisti hanno reinterpretato le misteriose figure. Oggi ventidue artisti contemporanei: Hogre, Antonio Guzzardo, Valeria Crociata, Gabriele Tamburini, Giacomo Orondini, Nike Brass Alghisio, Paolo Tonon, PU:RE, Paolo Petrangeli, Marcello Toma, Alessandra Fusi, Fabrizio Di Baldo, Riot Queer, Wonderbarbee, Rocco Cerchiara, Raffaele Bafefit, Saturno Butto’, RE delle Aringhe, Genuine, Chantal Menard, Francesco D’Isa e Gaetano Leonardi, rispondono al tema interpretando ognuno un "Trionfo" dei Tarocchi attraverso un’iconografia antica rivisitata in chiave attuale e personale.

Ospite del Vernissage FEFE’ Visual Magazine, promotore dal 13 giugno 2009 del progetto TAROTS, primo art-project di lunga durata che ha portato a momenti espositivi ed incontri tra artisti. La redazione della rivista selezionerà in questa occasione alcuni artisti per condurre un nuovo artwork sui Tarocchi.

L'idea dei "Ludus Trionphorum" è europea e nasce in Germania nel 1420, ne è testimonianza la presenza nel gioco di Krnöffel. Venti anni dopo vengono creati i Tarocchi, carte da gioco commissionate dalle corti signorili dell' Italia settentrionale. Il mazzo era diviso in due parti; la prima serie composta da carte con valori numerici e figure divise in quattro semi, la seconda serie, detta dei "Trionfi", composta da carte rappresentanti un preciso ordinato insieme di soggetti: ruoli sociali, virtù, concetti filosofici e religiosi. Il loro scopo, oltre che ludico, era destinato all'insegnamento dei giovani delle famiglie nobili.

la Boîte è lo spazio studio di gaetano leonardi, una "officina pensante". studio che è stato spettatore della creazione di lavori pubblicati dai maggiori quotidiani nazionali, come repubblica, il manifesto, carta, cuore, alias, il riformista e persino di una graphic novel, la nuit à midi, pubblicata dalla casa editrice tedesca ipp. la Boite ha accolto l’ideazione e la realizzazione di nuovi percorsi di comunicazione anche in ambito televisivo, campagne e sigle tv per rai, mediaset e la7. nel 2007 l'art director club italiano in occasione degli adci awards conferisce l'oro a gaetano leonardi, viene publicata una sua opera nell’ADI INDEX 2008, raccolta delle eccellenze del design internazionale. oggi lo spazio ha ampliato le sue forme di espressione, accogliendo anche il mondo della fotograzia grazie a inverticale, il quale ha allestito una sala posa, nella quale gli artisti potranno esprimersi, e sistemi di stampa professionale per agevolare la produzione artistica. la Boîte promuove la divulgazione delle più varie forme d'arte, ospitando eventi quali esposizioni, letture, rassegne, ecc.

Words of magic and wonder that sound deeply inside of me everytime I read them...
Probably also because I grew up like this, listening to this words every Christmas eve, through the lips of Gene Wilder, in this scene from "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate factory".

A wonderful soundtrack for growing up, I believe

So I had to pay my fee, I guess. To pay my debt for the help in building my dreams and imaginary and my will to believe in Dreams so strongly...And I did it with pure pleasure and delight

Here's my second tribute to my childhood, introduced to you, step by step:

Step 1: inspiration

I watched the movie again and again, I listened to the soundtrack (and also added "Pure imagination" to this blog playlist ) and made a great research on the web, looking for the perfect pictures and hints.
I collected a great selection of reference images, but as you will clearly see, this picture above is the one that helped me the most.

Step 2: conception

Two or three extremely rough sketches with ballpoint pen on very poor paper, in order to set up the composition and distinctive character features.
The sketch above passed my final selection.

Step 3: realization

Et voila!
Here he is, the Dreamer of Dreams, framed like a prince (the frame is another great flea market find, re-painted for the occasion).
My debt is paid, for the moment...But more pieces are to come, because my debt is huge just as much as the fun and delight I have in creating these little tributes to my childhood memories!

And so now everything is ready, all packed up and shipped towards LA, for this great art show at Gallery 1988:

Parole di meraviglia e di magia che risuonano forti dentro di me ogni volta le leggo...

Probabilmente anche perchè sono cresciuta così, ascoltando queste parole ogni vigilia di Natale, attraverso le labbra di Gene Wilder in questa scena tratta da "Willy Wonka & la fabbrica di Cioccolato".

Una colonna sonora bellissima per crescere, penso

Dunque dovevo pagar la mia tassa prima o poi, immagino. Pagare il debito per tutto l'aiuto ricevuto nel costruire i miei sogni ed il mio immaginario e la mia testardaggine nel credere nei sogni...E l'ho fatto con sommo piacere e diletto

Ecco a voi il secondo tributo alla mia infanzia, passo dopo passo:

Step 1: ispirazione

Ho visto il film varie volte, ho ascoltato la soundtrack (ed ho anche aggiunto "Pure imagination" alla playlist di questo blog ) ed ho fatto una grande ricerca di immagini e spunti sul web.
Ho raccolto una bella selezione di immagini di riferimento, ma come vedrete l'immagine qui sopra è quella che mi ha aiutata di più.

Step 2: idea

Due o tre schizzi velicissimi con la penna a sfera su dei fogliacci, per sistemare la composizione e le caratteristiche distintive dei personaggi.
Lo schizzo qui sopra è quello che ha passato la mia selezione finale.

Step 3: realizzazione

Et voila!
Eccolo qui, il Sognatore di Sogni, incorniciato come si conviene ad un principe (la cornice è un altro colpo fortunato pescato al mercatino delle pulci, ridipinta per l'occasione).
Il mio debito è pagato, per il momento...Ma altri pezzi arriveranno, perchè il mio debito è grande almeno tanto quanto il divertimento che provo nel realizzare questi piccoli tributi alle memorie della mia infanzia!

E così ora tutto è pronto, bello impacchettato e spedito alla volta di Los Angeles, per la mostra collettiva alla Gallery 1988:

Et voila!
As some of my facebook and twitter followers and friends probably already know, I'm currently working (among other things) on my pieces for the upcoming artshow "Crazy for Cult" at Gallery 1988...

Well, the gallery offered to the artists a truly awesome list of cult movies to choose from, and I can't deny that it has been an hard decision to pick just three of them...But I had no doubt at all for the first one: Edward Scissorhands!!!

So, here's my tribute to one of my all time favourite faerytales:
(I wonder if our beloved Tim will give us marvels like these ever again..I hope so!)

The conception of a piece has never been so smooth: all the colours, the atmospheres, the music were already there...It's been like bringing inside my world two characters that were already deeply part of it...Easy as it is ♥
And, oh, I loved the process so!

Moreover, I'm pretty happy with the frame that I found at the market...Bringing it to its new blue life has been really fun!

So now, while my work on the book about cats goes on (soon I'll post some sneak peeks) I'm ready for the two other movie pieces...Can you guess the titles?

Come probabilmente alcuni tra i miei amici di facebook e twitter sanno già, in questo momento sto lavorando (fra le altre cose) ai miei pezzi per la collettiva sui film cult "Crazy for Cult" alla Gallery 1988...

Bhè, la galleria ha offerto agli artisti una succulentissima lista di film tra cui scegliere, e non posso negare che non è stato facile pescarne solamente tre...Ma sulla mia prima scelta non avevo alcun dubbio: Edward Mani di Forbice!!!

La creazione di un pezzo non è mai stata così semplice: tutti i colori, le atmosfere, le musiche, erano già lì...E' stato come portare nel mio mondo dei personaggi che ne facevano già profondamente parte...Facile come sembra ♥
Ed il processo è stao piacevolissimo!

In più, sono piuttosto contenta della cornice che ho trovato dal rigattiere...Regalarle una nuova vita in blu è stato divertente!

Dunque ora, mentre il mio lavoro per il libro dei gatti procede (presto delle piccole anteprime) sono pronta per gli altri due pezzi sui film...Riuscite ad indovinarne i titoli?

I just can't believe my eyes...I just can't stand the waiting anymore...
I see Alice anywhere!!!

You know, my love for Alice and her influence on my life has always been huge, long before I knew that one of my favourite film directors of all time was going to release a movie about it (just like my love for Sleeping Beauty...And, you know what? Rumors say he's working on it too!! ♥)...But, oh well I've started to count down the days until March 3rd 2010 more than a year ago!

And now what do my eyes see?..Oh the luckiests of all the luckies...Seems like some bloggers around the world are receiving a truly misterious promotional treasure directly from the Walt Disney company...An Alice themed book-in-book box in their mail!

Hallo you!!!

After this long absence for my winter holidays (***absolutely wonderful winter holidays***) I'm finally back home, with a luggage full of dreams, cristmas carols, hopes and projects for the new year!!

First of all, let me tell you about the upcoming collective artshow at Gallery 1988....I'm so excited about that!!!

"Under the influence: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe"

Ok....How amazing is that? Not only I adore this gallery, but I have actually grown with the characters of He-Man and She-Ra, I can clearly recall the toys and those cool and colourful ads on Mickey Mouse magazine...The idea of this show is way too fun!!

I must admit that the style of the cartoon probably could not be more different than mine (not to mention the awful sense of colur compositon they had in the 80's...Agh!!) but that was the funnies thing of it all!!

And now...let me show you a glance of my winter holidays in New York City!!!

That's such an amazing city: always in a rush, full of lights, enoooormous toy stores (yayyy!!), squirrels, snow...
For an european girl like me, a city like this may not feel like home (like Paris does, for example), but being a stranger in town has never been so amazing before!
American culture is so young compared to "the Continent", but they make such a great effort in supporting contemporary art and architecture, we truly have a lesson to learn!
And the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMa?? OH MY GOSH!!! I have no words for that but: Do not miss it if you can!! Run to NYC and see it if you take the chance (it is open until April 26)!!

It's place so full of life...So many things to do in such a little time!
For example? Dancing on the Big Piano at Fao Schwarz and meeting Santa at Macy's (oh my Gosh!! I did it for real!!! Now I can die in peace)
Oh, how I wish to come back and see more and more!!

It's not been a shopaholic holiday for me, as they say it often happens when tourists visit the Big Apple...But it's been a great chance to find a bunch of great presents, for the ones I love...And for me too

Ok....Ma che idea favolosa è? Non solo io adoro questa galleria, ma sono realmente cresciuta con i personaggi di He-Man e She-Ra, mi ricordo benissimo i giocattoli e le immagini pubblicitarie della Mattel sul giornale di Topolino...Il tema di questa mostra è troppo divertente!!

Devo ammettere che lo stile del cartone non potrebbe essere più diverso dal mio (Senza contare l'orrido senso del colore che avevano negli anni 80...Agh!!) ma proprio quella è stata la parte più divertente!!

Ecco i miei due pezzi per la mostra:

Ed ora lasciate che vi racconti un pò delle le mie vacanze di Natale a New York City!!!

E' una città fantastica: senpre di corsa, piena di luci, enoooooormi negozi di giocattoli (yayyy!!), scoitattoli, neve...
Per una ragazza europea come me, una città come questa può non avere un'aria accogliente efamiliare (come invece è Parigi, ad esempio), ma essere una straniera in città non è mai stato così divertente!
La cultura americana è così giovane paragonata al "Continente", ma investono così tanto nell'arte contemporanea e nell'architettura, abbiamo davvero qualcosa da imparare!
E la mostra di Tim Burton al MoMa?? OH MIO DIO!!! Non ho davvero parole per descriverla a parte: Non perdetevela se potete!! Correte a New York e godetevela se ne avete l'occasione (la mostra durerà fino al 26 Aprile)!!

E' un posto così pieno di vita...Così tante cose da fare e in così poco tempo!
Ad esempio? Saltellare sul Big Piano a Fao Schwarz ae incontrare Babbo Natale da Macy's (oddio!! L'ho fatto sul serio!!! Ora posso morire in pace!)
Non vedo l'ora di poter tornare e vedere ancora di più!!

Non è stata una vacanza all'insegna dello shopping per me, come si dice spesso accada per i turisti che visitano la Grande Mela...Ma è stata un'ottima occasione per trovare un mucchio di bei regali per le persone che amo...E anche per me!

But I just couldn't find a second to stop and write here!

I traveled the world in the past week
I've been in Bologna to see The Muse live...And, what can I say but.....WOW!!!

I knew they would be totally great and awesome, but the show was overwhelming and absolutely surpassed all my expectations...The only thing I can tell you is: if you like the Muse even half than I do, do NOT miss one of their next gigs! (and RUN! because tickets fly away faster than light!)

And then I came back home, and two days later I flew away to Paris!♥
I went to the Ville Lumière for three days of pure bliss...I visited the wonderful Children Book Fair in Motreuil, I went to Galeriè l'Art de Rien to bring back home my Peter Pan paintings, and I took the chance to breathe some french Christmas air and delight my eyes with twinkling lights...Pure wonder!

The result is that now I'm incredibly fullfilled with work to finish before December 15...When I will fly away once more...Towards New York City!!!

So please forgive me for this absence, I promise I will stop for a while after Christmas and remain here in Italy at least
I hope to find the time to post a couple of updates about my upcoming exhibitions and craft fair in these days anyway...And I will host a giveaway right after (or right before, who knows!) Christmas...Which moment could be better for a giveaway?♥

Dopodichè sono tornata a casa e due giorni dopo ho preso un aereo per Parigi!♥
Sono stata nella Ville Lumière per tre giorni di pura meraviglia...Ho visitato il Salone del libro di Montreuil, sono stata alla Galeriè l'Art de Rien per poter ritirare i miei quadri di Peter pan, ed ho colto l'occasione per respirare un pò d'aria natalizia alla francese e deliziare i miei occhi con mille lucine sbrilluccicanti...Meraviglia!

Il risultato però è che ora sono pienissima di lavoro da portare a termine entro il 15 Dicembre...Quando volerò via di nuovo...Verso New York City!!!

Perciò perdonate la mia assenza, prometto di fermarmi per un pò dopo Natale e di rimanere qui in Italia almeno

Finally they're here!!!

Oh well, at least the first two of 'em!
I finally took the chance to post my latest products in my etsy shop: zipper pouches!

I always loved them and wanted to realize mine...So last month I made some exemplars, took them to the craft fair...And they did so well that I didn't have the chance to take pictures for etsy anymore!

Moreover, I must admit that my very first attempts in sewing and stitching a zipper were not that perfect!!...And since only my very best creations deserve to be photographed and posted on etsy...Only two pouches passed the final exam!!

Mi sono sempre piaciuti e avevo una gran volgia di realizzarne di miei...Così il mese scorso ne ho fatti un pò, li ho portati al mercatino...E sono andati così bene che non ho più avuto modo di fotografarli per etsy!

In più devo ammettere che i miei primi tentativi nel cucire una zip non hanno avuto una perfettissima riuscita !!...E dato che solamente i miei prodotti migliori meritano di essere fotografati e postati su etsy...Solamente due astucci hanno passato l'esame!!

E sono molto orgogliosi di essere fotografati qui:

Sono già in vendita sul mio etsy shop ...E il loro pancino ha una gran fame di tutti gli oggetti che potreste metterci dentro!

Super, gorgeous, sparkling news!!!

Guess what has been realized by the wonderful Nataly Nir of chocovenyl?
An awesome set of wall decals with my Alice in Wonderland illustrations!!! Did I mention how much I love wall decorations and decals? I adore them with all my heart!...And the quality of the decals by chocovenyl is so gorgeous: "Chocovenyl media is new, patented adhesive fabric paper that can be easily placed anywhere and then removed and reused over and over again."

Oh, I wish I had a new home with a lot of blank walls to be fullfilled with all their decals (they work with a bunch of incredible artsts, it's an honour for me to be there ♥)

Take a look at my Alice decals here...And if you ever decide to decorate your room with them...Please send me pictures!! I'd love to see them!!

I have a couple of other news now...First of all, let's ring the bells: I had a drastic haircut a few days ago!!
Seriously, I did not cut my hair more than 1cm every two months for aaaaages, and now I decided to cut them...Zam!..Like Ameliè Poulain, just a bit longer
I like them a lot, they're making me feel better...You know what they say: there's nothing better than a haircut when you're down ♥

And then, I just reached 150 sales in my etsy shop!! This is so great for me, because it took me so long to get things going, it took a lot of efforts, but now it's working, and it's fun!!
I'm so happy!!

Well, it feels good to fullfill a page of good news!
I'll leave for some days tomorrow, I'm going in Tuscany for the comic fair in Lucca because my illustration "...E i vecchi sapientoni ne danno mille prove" has been selected for the artshow about Galileo Galilei, so...See you soon when I come back...And have a happy Halloween!!

Ho un paio di altre notizie ora...Prima di tutti, squillino le trombe: mi sono tagliata i capelli in modo drastico qualche giorno fa!!
Sul serio, non tagliavo i miei capelli più di 1cm ogni due mesi da seeeecoli, ed ora ho deciso di tagliarli...Zam!..Più o meno come Ameliè Poulain, solo un pò più lunghi
Mi piacciono un sacco, e mi fanno sentir meglio...Sapete come si dice: non c'è niente di meglio di un taglio di capelli quando si è giù ♥

E poi, ho appena raggiunto 150 vendite nel mio etsy shop!! Ed è grandioso per me, perchè ci ho messo così tanto per riuscire a smuovere le acque, ci è voluto moltissimo lavoro, ma ora sta funzionando, ed è divertente!!

Bene, è bello riempire una pagina di buone notizie!

After a long week of long and unfruitful researches...Here I am back again.

First of all let me say thank you a thousand and a million times to every single one of you!!
For trying to make me smile, for helping me to spread the word, for all your suggestions...You're too lovely!!

Unfortunately, despite all my efforts my cat is still missing...And by now 12 days have already passed since the day he went away...Maybe it's time for me to stop walking around town shaking the cat crunchies box, with scotch tape around my arm as a bracelet, and a bunch of flyers ready to be hanged.

Maybe it's time to take the decision of simply remain here waiting, trusting in feline resources...If only it wasn't so hard!

One thing is for sure: if it's true, like someone says, that animals do "hear" our thoughs, then anywhere he is he does not feel alone at all! I think about him all day long, and I dream of him at night...And thanks to the word spreaded through facebook now the whole town knows about it! (yay, I seem to have found a positive aspect of facebook in the end)

Anyway I don't feel like giving up my researches, nor my waiting, and he's the one who my next exhibition is dedicated to: because you should Never say Never

Una cosa è certa: se è vero, come dicono alcuni, che gli animali sentono i nostri pensieri allora ovunque sia in questi giorni non si sarà di certo sentito solo! Penso a lui tutto il giorno e lo sogno di notte...E col passaparola di facebook ora lo sa tutto il paese! (evviva, ho trovato un aspetto utile di facebook alla fine..)
